not font ms word 2002

I am working on a friends computer. I am fairly knowledgable on software and
installations.

I installed Office 2002 for my friend. All applications have the option to
use different fonts, except MS Word. It only has one font available.

I have attempted to repair, install fonts, uninstall/reinstall MS Office,
but still no fonts in MS Word. I have gone into all available options for
font use and can not find how to tell MS Word where to look for more fonts.

How do I get MS Word to properly allow different fonts to be used?
Is there a registry change I can make? Or a hidden option in MS Word?

Thank you,
-Lee

Which printer is selected as the default printer in Start |
Control Panel | Printers? If it is "generic/text only" or "fax"
or something similar, then choose a printer that is capable of
printing fonts, and you will see more choices in Word.
