Not responding message

I have a six month old laptop running Vista, Office 07 and McAfee suite of
programs. From time to time, whilst operating Outlook, Word or Excel, a
command will freeze up the program and the message 'not responding' will
appear in the top bar. This will clear after anytime ranging from a few
seconds to half an hour and I can resume working. There doesnt seem to be
any consistent pattern of usage although it seems to happen more often in
afternoons. What can I do to halt this disruption?

I'm having the same problem although mine never seems to clear up, making it
completely inaccessible to me. My issue is solely with Word as well... might
anyone know of a solution? I've downloaded all of the relevant patches and
updates, but to no avail.

When I went to control panel to launch Event Viewer (straight after Word
froze) it to froze with 'not responding'! Eventually opened it but where to
look?
Under Applications and Services Log>ACEEventLog got this message:

0000000132: 2009-08-15 12:14:31:592 Exception <Killing CCC0 Process>:
Process with an Id of 5472 is not running.
Exception Called by: ATI.ACE.MOM.Implementation.CCC0StateMachine::KillMe
processID:05916
threadID:(MOM_STM_DelegateThread) domainName:(MOM.exe )
assemblyName:(MOM.Implementation, Version=2.0.3120.40837, Culture=neutral,
PublicKeyToken=90ba9c70f846762e)

I have no idea how to interpret or act on this. Jeff

It means you have a problem with your ATI video driver, although do a
search, to include hidden files for mom.exe, if the file is found in other
than an ATI program folder it could mean that your PC is infected

Have you used MS Update to install any drivers?
Visit your Laptop mnftr's site and install the video driver for your
specific model
