Not Seeing Some Projects in Portfolio Analyzer

T

Tracie

Hi,

We have been using Portfolio Analyzer for awhile and have the basic cubes of:
* MSP_ASSN_FACT
* MSP_PORTFOLIO_ANALYZER
* MSP_RES_AVAIL_FACT

I was recently told by an end user that a couple of her projects are not
visible in Portfolio Analyzer. None of the Portfolio Analyzer views were
created to filter on not seeing certain projects. I am the administrator for
Microsoft Project Server at this site and also cannot "see" the projects in
Portfolio Analyzer; I've tried various Portfolio Analyzer views.

From within SQL Enterprise Manager, I have verified that there is data from
these two projects in both the MSP_Cube_Projects and MSP_Cube_Assn_Fact
tables. I have also gone into Analysis Manager and verified that I can see
the project names when do a browse data action on the MSP_Portfolio_Analyzer
cube and on the Shared Dimension of Project List.

How do I correct this situation so these projects are visible in Portfolio
Analyzer views since the data seems to be there? My expertise with OLAP and
Analysis Manager is limited, so please list specific things to do.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Are there any errors generated in the server application event log when the
cube builds?

Hi Gary,

No there are no errors showing up in the Server Application Event Log. I
typically don't have the Project Server Trace running, but will turn it on
for tonight's cube rebuild.

With these two projects in question, yesterday I put a "dummy" task into
each project and assigned myself some time for this week - March 27-31.
Again, today, I can "see" this data in the MSP_Cube tables. But it's not
visible in any of the Portfolio Analyzer Views.

Another tihing that is strange is that several of my views have Project Name
as a Row Field. When I open the auto filter dropdown, the names of both of
the two problem projects are checked.....but they still aren't appearing in
the views.

Any chance that these project names contain special characters such as
dashes?

Hi Gary,

No, no special characters in the project names:
Phoenix Project
REcon Check Payments to TD Bank

Nothing of importance showed up in last night's Project Server Trace log
file either.

Do you have any other ideas? This is just very weird.

Are you tracking any custom cost fields in your system? What SP level is
your system?
