Notebook Layout

Version: 2008 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.6 (Snow Leopard) Processor: Intel I am a law student and I use Notebook Layout to take my class notes. However, the other day while I was in class my notes suddenly went from being tabbed and bulleted (like an outline) to all being left justified (and it no longer lets me tab). This has completely messed up my notes and I am wondering if there is a way to fix it to go back to the way it was?

Check on the View menu to see if you are still in "Notebook Layout" View.

A Notebook Layout document is simply a conventional document that Word
displays in a particular fashion. If you move out of Notebook Layout view,
it looks like any other document.

John, I understand that. However, my problem is that all of notes that were tabbed and bulleted a certain way are no longer (the bullets have disappeared and all of the notes are now all the way to the left of the page)...any thoughts?

Generically, this problem can be only one of two things:

* Either the View has changed so it is no longer Notebook Layout View, or:

* The Styles have changed so they are no longer formatted correctly for
Notebook Layout View to work.

To see if it is the second one, create a new Notebook Layout View document
and copy the next into it.

Since the formatting tools needed to correct the styles are not available in
Notebook View (and now you know why...) that's the best way of getting the
correct formatting re-applied.

The styles should be "Note Level 1" through "Note Level 9". These styles
are normally invisible.
