Notes- Can't Get Notes ( new or other) Into New Folder

I never really used NOTES much, mainly using the given folders. I created
folders with names and followed direction from Microsoft Office, and numerous
other sites ( drag >>drop, view>>copy >>paste and a few others.) They
suggested to do it slow till the folder is no longer compressed. I'd have
clocked in a lot of hours by now. I am ok with a pc, but I could find very
little about this. I would appreciate some input. Thanks
