If you have a cell with a formula in it is it possible to
also have a reference # on the left corner so that someone
looking at the printed page can see the corresponding info
on another page. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks for
any help.

Perhaps a small Text-box, or Drawing Object inserted into the cell would do
what you're after.......kind of a "footnote" effect.

I think I'd use an adjacent cell.

I think that the printed part makes it difficult. You could use a shape with a
hyperlink assigned (or just a hyperlink -- or heck, just a comment) if you
didn't need it printed.

But I can't think of way of doing this easily. (maybe a text box partially
covering the cell? But that adjacent cell looks easier to implement and
update.)

Sounds like you should look into using "Comments".
They can be printed as they are displayed, or you can print them at the end
of the sheet.
