Notification in corner with clock

Is there a way to have outlook running in the background all the time and get
your notification that you have new mail without having the tab at the bottom
of the page

Outlook must be running to get notifications. Version of Outlook? If Outlook
2002, 2003, or 2007 you can minimize to the notification area. See
http://www.outlook-tips.net/howto/minimize_tray.htm for the method for 2002.
For 2003/2007, right click on the tray icon and choose minimize.
