Hi!

I'm a novice at creating PowerPoint presentations on my iBookG4. I
unfortunately agreed as a volunteer to give a free presentation to a group
and now I'm in panic mode.

I'm trying to import photos from iPhoto by dragging each one into the slide
sorter. The photos appear, but as HUGE images that I have to try to
downsize by hand. It is very slow and I have more than 200 slides to
insert. Each photo in iPhoto is 1 mg or more.

1. What size should the photos be for a PP presentation?
2. How do I import photos at a lower resolution?
3. How do I import multiple photos?

Please help me if you know the answers to any of my questions.

A thousand thank yous!

Hi Andrea,

There are many ways to approach this. I'll offer some suggestions and I
hope others chime in with more.

1. Size depends upon what you plan to do with the presentation. Special
rules apply if you're planning to produce high quality printouts or large
printouts (17"x20") for example. For the moment I'll say not to worry about
the size.

2. From iPhoto's File menu choose Export. Change the format to JPEG. Click
the Export button. Put them into a new folder that has no other files in it.
Make a note of where this folder is.

3. Use my add-in to import all the pictures from the folder. The add-in
automatically resizes each picture to fit the slide. OK. So this is a
brazen ad for my add-in. My apologies, but it does work.

On the other hand, if you have the time and inclination you can create your
own macro to accomplish this. There's an article about it here:
Batch Insert a folder full of pictures, one per slide

Regarding the size...
If you're happy with the size after following the above steps just be happy
and go about your business. The export feature of iPhoto lets you scale the
picture sizes if you wish to make adjustments.

I hope this helps!

Hi Andrea,

I hope this is a lesson to you not to volunteer next time they ask.
