Now I can't send POP from Earthlink

Version: 2008
Operating System: Mac OS X 10.5 (Leopard)
Email Client: pop

I have two email accounts in Entourage. The earthlink account is a POP type. I have added/deleted several times and still no luck sending emails. I receive them okay, but when I compose a message it just goes to the outbox and sits there. Any attempt to send results in a "timeout" window. Why won't Entourage send a POP message.

I'm so frustrated with Mac that I am just about ready to go back to a PC!!

1. If you can receive but not send then you have a bad SMTP configuration
2. If you can send but not receive you have a bad POP or IMAP configuration

You can try re-entering info.
You can delete account and create a new one.
Using copy/paste can result in an extra space being added. Type carefully.
Check your Keychain for corruption.

Go to Tools > Accounts, click the "Mail" tab, open your EarthLink account,
and check your settings:

Receiving mail: Account ID: (e-mail address removed)

Sending mail: SMTP server: smtpauth.earthlink.net - Click here for advanced
sending options

ˆ SMTP server requires authentication

ˆ Use same settings as receiving mail server

If you delete the account and re-enter the info, does all the previous e-mails get wiped out?
