#Num! linked table

I have the opposite issue from reading the posts. I have a linked table and
one of the rows contains part numbers which for the most part are alpha and
numeric (1a112c) etc. However there are a few part numbers are numeric. For
those items I am getting a #num! error. I have tried the macro in the
knowledge base but that does not work as it truncates the numeric part
numbers.

Is the linked table an EXCEL spreadsheet? If yes, see this article:

If it's not an EXCEL spreadsheet, tell us what the linked table is, and in
what type of a file is it located.
