Most likely: your BIOS settings have been reset to default. A few things
can cause this. Listed according to probability (my guess), most likely
first:
- CMOS battery failure. In this case your clock/calendar is wrong too,
unless you have an external time source (network time, NTP client or
similar).
- Manual reset, by you or someone else (you have a BIOS password, right?).
- Remote administration (some computers have the opportunity for system
administrators to change BIOS settings remotely).
- Virus, possibly??? (Some virus types change BIOS settings, though I
have never heard of this specific action). BIOS password or good AV
package will prevent this.
