I have some locations that I need to code. For each number it wil
have 4 levels
ex:
100 01
100 02
100 03
100 04
101 01
101 02
101 03
101 04
etc. etc.

How can I get excel to generate a list of numbers either by:

1. giving it a start and end range
Input info. may would be:
# of numbers
starting number
# of time to repeat

2. or entering a value in the 1st cell and having it repeat until i
reads and "01" in column B then it would give the next number in th
sequenc

Would do it usingt formulae:

col A B
1 100 1
2 100 2
3 100 3
4 100 4
5 =A1+1 =B1

Then just drag/copy/fill row 5 down as far as you want and format col B
as custom/ 00 to get the leading zero's. Copy and paste special/
values.

If you need the leading zero and it is ok to have B formatted as text
then format B s text and input 01,02,etc into rows 1 to 8, select all
and drag down.

The fill handle will take care of the 1234 series in B column easy enough.
Enter the first four rows and extend the series while holding the control
button.

Enter the first four numbers in "A" column as well. (i.e. 100)
Now enter in A5.........=IF(B5=1,A4+1,A5) and extend this formula down the
column.
