Which version did you purchase (OEM, Home and Student, Professional, etc.)?
On the CD there is an End User License Agreement and it is also available to
read after it its installed on a computer in the Help/About section of
*Program* Options.

Office professional would be one desktop and one portable device normally
used by the same person. That means that if you are the primary user of the
desktop system your wife or child can't take the laptop and use it most of
the time according to the EULA. What you do under your own roof is your
business however.
