number of pages

I need to start the page nubers of a document at a number other than one. I
know how to do this, however i cant figure out how to get the total number of
pages to reflect the new starting number. for example, i am starting my
document on page 5. currently the header says "page 5 of 1" and "page 6 of 2"
rather than "page 5 of 6" and "page 6 of 6".

How can I fix the total number of pages?
