Number of users per licence code

Our organisation has Groove 2.5 installed on various machines around the
place. I can't find any original paperwork, though we have done an audit of
licence codes - is there a way to determine the number of seats from a
licence code, so we can make sure we're not over subscribed?

Hi Brett -

By "seats", do you mean the number of computers an account is installed on?

It not possible to accurately determine how many computers a given account
of Groove is installed on. The Groove management server is supposed to track
this, but looking at my own account info there, it lists five computers,
going back a number of years even where such computers have had groove
uninstalled for ages.

Groove is licensed on a per-user*, so you just need to send a message round
asking "who is using Groove?". Once you know that number you know how many
copies you need.

*Actually its a bit more complex in that where you have a number of people
fulfilling a specific job role, one at a time in shifts.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Mark,
I was really looking from the other side. I have a list of licence numbers
and which computers they're on, but don't know whether licence number 'xyz'
is for 1, 2, 5 or 10 users. Is there a way I can find that out?

Hi Brett -

Truth told, I'm a little hazy about how retail customers manage their
licenses. Isn't it just the same as what I do with my partner licenses?

Go to Groove.net, log in (using the little 'Log in' icon at the top of the
page and then go to hosted services and administer your licenses from there?

correct
in my understanding one license has always been for one user
except under specific corporate schemes

therefore Marks suggestion that you check out your personal account on
groove.net is a start if you have never logged in before the password should
be the one your used to register on groove .net first time.

in my account you will see all licenses available to you and the ones that
have been allocated and to whom, though logically this would be the case if
in fact you or someone issued them from the hosted service already. ???

if not and the keys came on CD's then they should be one per user. never
been any other way with earlier versions at least.
