number pages as in a newspaper

Because numbering pages in a newspaper type publication do not run
concurrently, is there a way to do this automatically. Setting up from the
Master page will not work, as that will just give 1,2,3 etc..
To try to make it clearer, on an A4 sheet that is folded in the middle, you
will have on one side number 1 and 4, and on the other side of the page 2 and
3. In a say 10 page publication, printed on both sides that is 20, it is more
difficult to maintain the number sequence without numbering manually, which
is time consuming.

Many Thanks

Do you have all the pages in a single publication? Are you setting this up as a
booklet? If this is the scenario, then Publisher will correctly number the pages if
you use the insert, page numbers.

Many thanks for your reply. In my ignorance I was not aware that I could set
my publication up as a booklet. Have you the time to help me further on that?
In my defense, I am 75yrs of age and have only been taught the basics, but I
am very willing to learn.

After reading your earlier reply, I read the help files and sorted out the
Booklet setup. I am using Publisher 2002.
I will go online to the link that you have provided, if you have any other
useful information I will be glad to receive it.
I am the editor of our church magazine, at the moment just 12 pgs. and in
the past I have stuggled when I have added extra pgs, so thank you. As they
say "one is never too old to learn"

I publish a 16 page newsletter for our church in 2002. It is 4 A4 paper
folded. If you wish I could send it to you to use as a template.
