Numbering every second row

When i type 1 in the first cell and drag it down it creates a nice numbered
list. Is there a way to number only every second row?

Select the cell with 1 *and* the cell below it. Now fill down.

Try this ..

Put in A1: 1, in A3: 2
Select A1:A4, fill down asdesired
(note that the selected range includes a 2nd blank cell, A4)
