numbers in text format

i have downloaded a report that contains a column full of numbers that are
not recognized as numbers but rather text and can therefore not be used in
the SUM formula. the column contains over 13000 rows. is there anyway to
turn these numbers into numbers - aside from hitting F2 and enter on each and
every cell?

A solution I remember reading on here a while back.
in a seperate cell put a 1
Copy that cell
then Select the column of 'text-numbers'
Paste Special...
Choose Multiply

Should work

Click on the column (to highlight the entire column), go to Data > Text to
Column, select Finish.
