Object resizing on their own in Word 2003

Hi all. I have a word 2003 document with an equation in it. Every time I
add a character to the equation it changes the size drastically. If I
go to the format object menu, and uncheck "relative to the original
picture" it does what I want. Is there a way to have this button
unchecked by default, on all objects?
