Objects are pasted into upper left corner

When I copy then paste a drawing object, the pasted inmage is put into the
upper left hand corner of the page. This is annoying when I am working on the
bottom of the page and need to do several paste operations.

When I e-mail the document to another machine the paste operation works as
usual, putting the image slightly south east of the existing image.

What setting did I change? How do i reset it?

Hi =?Utf-8?B?UGF1bA==?=,

Is this happening in all documents, or only certain ones? Which version of Word?

If you hold down the CTRL key when starting Word that
should put it into Safe Mode. Does the problem disappear as
long as you're in Safe Mode?

(I was away on vacation...sorry for the lapse)

That does seem to fix it! But when I go back to "unsafe" mode, the problem
is still there. What is happening?
