Objects not appearing in browser

I have a problem. When I open one of my Publisher sites in my browser, only
text shows, justified to the top and left. Absolutely no objects show...no
links, logos, or graphics of any kind. But it's only on my home computer. I
think I may have screwed something up scanning and/or cleaning the registry
when I thought I might have had a tracking virus a couple of days ago. Does
anyone know anything about this?

Which browser are you using? Which version of Publisher? What is the website
URL?

I'm using Publisher 2007 for one and 2003 for the other. The 2007 site is

The browsers I was using at home are AT&T/Yahoo and Internet Explorer. As I
said, however, the appear fine on other computer, just not at home where I
know I screwed something up. I just don't know what.

Is it possibly something as simple as refreshing the view in your browser at
home?

I waited with the hope that someone else might have an answer for you...I
don't. More questions...which version of IE? Is this problem only with
Publisher built sites? Did you install a MSFT patch or some new program that
might be causing this. Did you try disabling your firewall? It sounds like
an "security" issue but I don't know what to tell you. You might post the
question with all the details on the IE newsgroup. Sorry...hopefully someone
else will be able to answer your question.

Thanks anyway Dave. I'm using IE 7, but I'm just confused. The only things
I've done prior to this problem were the scans. I think it may be something
in the registry, but I don't know how to fix it.

About the only other thing I can think of at the moment is to backup the
files that you have changed recently, and do a system restore to before you
did the "scans".

I even tried that, but the restore was unable to finish because it says there
were no system changes. And I went back to 2/24. I just did this yesterday.
This makes me think it's some kind of browser or computer setting that I'm
just not seeing. I'm gonna have to try your suggestion of posting to an IE
newsgroup.

Good luck, and may I suggest that you offer all the details in the post to
the IE group. It is a lot easier to help people when we have the details.
For example, even though I specifically asked you, you never did get around
to telling me which version of IE you are using, or whether this problem is
exclusive to your Publisher built website. Sometimes we can guess, but the
more details the better.

That comes from rushing. Just FYI I'm using IE7 and yes, it's just the
Publisher sites. Everything else is fine.

You know...you DID tell me that you were using IE7. I didn't remember until
I read back through the thread again. So perhaps I did a little rushing
myself. Sorry about that.

I am not surprised to hear...to be reminded...you are using IE7, as there
are lots of people having lots of problems with IE7. But I am surprised to
hear that it is specific to Publisher sites.

Are you using XP?

I have to ask the obvious. Did you empty the cache in IE7?

I didn't get a chance to check this link last night because I was busy
banging my head against the wall. However, I learned in the IE newsgroup
that lots of people were having IE7 problems with Vista. Although mine is
XP, I still checked the responses. Someone said that that by restoring the
registry backup files, they cleared up a problem, but the HKCU file did not
work alone. They needed the HKLM file as well. Well, I'd already tried
that, but only had the HKCU file. When I uninstalled the registry cleaner,
it appeared HKLM went with it, and to date, it had not worked with the HKCU
alone. So, I decided to downloaded Mozilla Firefox and try that. Then the
objects appeared, but only the side links worked. So, halfway solved, I
opened the backup folder out of curiosity, and ........ VOILA!! The HKLM
file was now appearing. I did a restore of that and got a warning that the
restore could not be completed because some files were missing. Nonetheless,
it worked. Praise the Lord!! I can see now!! I'm just telling you this
long story in case you hear of it again. You're always great help. Thanks
again.
