"ODBC Call Failed" Error Message

I have a query that is accessing some tables in an SQL
Anywhere V5 database.
The query worked OK for a while, but all of a sudden I've
started to receive an "ODBC Call Failed" error message
when I run it.
I've re-written the query from scratch, but it's still
happening.
Can anyone explain this and give me a workaround?
