ODBC will not open after choosing it for external data

When selecting:
file|Get External Data|Link Tables|ODBC databases

it closes without error and will not allow me to select the DSN I need.

I am running access 2003 with all the latest patches.
DSN's are setup for this.

this is doing it on two seperate computers.

I have tried to roll back msjet40.dll - but to no avail.

any help?

Just uninstalled Norton Internet Security and everything works as it
should. I didn't think of the personal software firewall causing my
odbc issues but apparently it can.

Yes, it appears that NAV 2003 doesn't Like Office 2003 SP2.

Removing my AV is not an option for me at this time, I have sent the problem
to symantec, as microsoft tech support suggested it's their problem.

It appears that the nav is blocking the wizard from running, as per
filemon/regmon.

weird...

Yes: simply deactivate the Office Plug-In and keep the other stuff. After
your linked tables are created, probably that you can choose to reactivate
the Office plug-in if want to.

Another possibility would be to create the linked tables directly from VBA
code, without using the wizard; however this is something that I never
explored.
