Odd behavior

Steve Grosz

We are in the process of upgrading everyone from Office 2003 to 2007. We
performed a upgrade recently and the oddest thing is occuring.

If you browse to a folder where a Excel file is located, and double-click on
the file to open it, it takes about 2 minutes for Excel to start and to open
the file.

If however you start Excel, and then go through the 'file > open' and browse
to the file location and open the file, it opens the file almost immedately.

What would be the problem here? And how can I speed up the time to open the
file??

Thanks

From an earlier post:
1 Close Excel and
2 Windows Start Button|Run excel /unregserver
3 Windows Start Button|Run excel /regserver
The /unregserver & /regserver stuff resets the windows registry to excel's
factory defaults.

It seems like the antivirus. Probably you have Norton.
Either you can remove the Norton Office plugin or try disabling the antivirus.
