Odd error with word Frezzing

D

Dan Irwin

Hi,

For the last few days i have been writing a long outline using word
2003, which I have just begun to use. All of the sudden today when I
make some changes to the outline sometimes (I can't find a common
thread as far as when though) word will freeze and the XP error box
comes up asking me if I wanted to recover my files. I hit yes and then
it tells gives me the list of recoverd files, saying that my outline
was recovered but it had an error in it which was repaired (it doesn't
literally say this, you know what i mean though :) ). When I look at
what was repaired it always says the number one in at the very
beginning of document (I didn't really type it, it is produced using
word's numbering), and the reason is a "internal data integrity(4) 1"
.. I have tried to find what the problem was to no luck, I tried
starting word in safe mode, the problem still happened, I tired
copying the file into another file the problem still happened. Can
anyone give me a hand?

I have posted my file on the internet:
http://www.eden.rutgers.edu/~sirwin/planate.doc. To recreate the error
all you have to do is go to page 14 and where there is a blank line
which has "3) " on it, try to backspace that whole line. I've noticed
that if i try and backspace the "3)" and not the three spaces
following it I have no problem.

Thanks for the help,

Dan
P.S

In this outline I had to use more than the 8 levels allowed by normal
word numbering so to do so i used field code.
p.p.s

sorry about the spelling, didn't get to checking it yet
