odd looking right arrows all over!

does anyone know HOW to fix this... i was typing along in
word and must of hit some combo of keys and the whole page
(along with every file on disc) shows a bunch of right
arrows throughout the document -also some odd looking dual
vertical lines too throughout. how can i turn this off
and go back to the way it was???!! thanks! dave

Dave,

You probably hit CTRL+* (Usually this is the Control key, shift key, and
number 8 key) and toggled the display of non-printing characters. Press the
key sequence again to toggle off.
