Odd problem with Outlook 2003

I have an odd problem with Outlook 2003 running under XP PRO. Both XP and
Outlook have current patch levels. Outlook is configured to work with an
exchange server and has the following problems: Often after a message is
composed I cannot send, nothing happens when I hit the send button. I work
around this problem by saving as a draft, then opening the draft and sending
from there. This problem is intermittant. Second problem is trying to invite
others to a meeting, the button is greyed out, this is a consistent problem.

I have run the repair tool against all .pst files with no relief. Problems
seem to have triggered when I updated my monitors and increased my monitor
resolution. Also checked to make sure my graphics card driver is current
(Matrox Parhelia 3-head adapter 128MB).

Any recommendations on the fix? I suspect that I may need to reload Office,
but don't want to lose my settings and am reluctant to take that on without
asking for help.

THank you!

Does the mail get send when you use CTRL+ENTER? I've seen this a couple of
times before and it seems to be limited to the user profile so it is not an
installation issue. This means starting with a clean user(profile) will cure
your problem. Since this is quite a drastic measurement you might want to
try something else and that is resetting your Toolbar by renaming outcmd.dat
to outcmd.old. Unlike starting with a clean user it's not a guaranteed fix
though but it works in some cases and involves less work :)

Thanks for the reply. I renamed outcmd.dat to old as you suggested, launched
Outlook and sent myself a test message. Nothing happened when I hit send,
tried CTRL + Enter, did not work. I saved as a draft, then opened the draft
and sent from there. Do you think the detect and repair option is worth a
try?

Sure but I recommend you test it with logging on as a newly created user
first. This will help you determine whether it is a user configuration
error/corruption or a program error/corruption. If this work correctly
logged on as a newly created user you'll now it's a user configuration
error/corruption.

The probelm is with the Matrox software - we just had similar problem when
installing dual monitors. They have it as a known issue. Open Matrox from the
systray, go into Desktop management, make sure NO boxes are checked and
proceed into Application Specific Settings. You need to ADD Outlook by
browsing to its command and then uncheck all the boxes that come up checked.
This solved our troubles.
