OE 98 preview & spam

I've heard that with OE 98 by previewing spam email, this is conveyed to the sender an interest in the email on the part of the recipient and thereby causes the recipient to receive more emails of the same kind. If this is true, is there any way to disable the preview feature? I haven't been able to find it in 'help'. Thanks for any input...I'm drowning in spam!!

There's no OE 98 - there's Outlook 98, and then there are various versions
of Outlook Express. For the latter (at least in OE6), go to View, layout -
in Outlook 98, View | Preview Pane (? I don't have OL98 handy).
