OE quitting when I retrieve mail

Hey all:

Got a quirky mac problem here. I've just in the last four days connected my
DSL modem to a D-Link wirless router so I can do internet stuff at the
kitchen table with my iBook. Love it so far.

I've been reading my email via hotmail on this setup, instead of using my
standard OS 9 OE on my flat-panel iMac. Now that I've been using hotmail
on Safari for a few days, and tried to go back to my OE, I find that when I
try and receive mail from my msn account it downloads a few items then -
ZAP! - OE quits on me. I thought it might be because it's downloading too
many (not having been offloaded from the server for a few days) and there's
not enough room, so I deleted everything I could - all from my delete folder
as well as stripping out lots of emails that I don't really need. But it's
still quitting on me.

HOWEVER, I AM able to download and read NEWS headers and articles.

I tried rebooting after dumping the delete stuff, but that didn't help.

Any ideas? I'd love to move to an OSX based email program like Eudora but
having MSN as an ISP doesn't like playing with non-MSN items, and I won't
pay for the fancy MS Office whatever it is just to get email. If I have to
I'll just use a browser based site like Hotmail.
