OE6 preview re-opens, why?

FInally opted "View" and unticked preview window, then clciked apply and ok.
All was well for some hours until I re-opened OE6 (don't recall if preview
had reappeared/re-opened just then), but as soon as I clicked send-receive, I
recieved a nusance recurring spam e-mail (I suspect of malicious scripting,
etc.) seemed to have caused my preview window to re-open.

Any thoughts or known instances of the preview window re-opening (seemingly)
all by itself?

You might try the OE6 group, as this is not an Office problem.

Despite my earlier attempts at doing just that, not finding those newsgroups.
