# of Systems on which Publisher can be installed

K

klam

I'm thinking of getting Publisher and noticed that the trial evaluation pkg
says it can be installed on up to four systems. Is that true for the full
pkg (not the trial version)?

I'm asking as the pkg is for a non-profit (I'm a volunteer) and was wondering:
1. how many systems can the full pkg be installed on?
2. is there a corporate/non-profit version that allows for multilple
installs? Or price discount?

Sorry if this is a "stupid question" but the trial verbiage has me confused.

Appreciate any feedback.

Karen,

Publisher 2003 EULA reads:
1.1 Installation and use. You may:
(a) install and use a copy of the Software on one personal computer or
other device; and
(b) install an additional copy of the Software on a second, portable device
for the exclusive use of the primary user of the first copy of the Software.

Maybe the Volume Licensing Program would be
appropriate for your organization:

Thx for your complete reply Chuck.

John, I'm checking out the VLP pages now so thx a mint for the link to that
too.

One last question, if we go with purchasing a single copy of Pub 2003 we
would install it on a computer that volunteers share. So would it be okay if
multiple people used the same copy on that one computer? (Some of us work on
the same newsletter, and there are two newsletters.)

thx again,
karen

If it's on one computer and more than one person uses that computer, you're
fine. Of course the idea of more than one person working on one newsletter
makes me cringe.

(Have I ever mentioned that I have a bit of a control issue?)

I've done some work for/with non-profits that have bought some other
programs/os' through the vlp and the savings were significant...at least for
the operating systems it was.

Yes, different people can work on one machine :)

JoAnn...LOL!

I'm a bit the same - I neglected to mention that I will be doing one of the
newsletters (by MYSELF!) and there's another group that does the other
newsletter.

I'm been creating my newslettter on Word (talk about cringe), and the other
group have been using InDesign which cost them $1,000. They started this
issue by telling me "we have problems with only having the software on one
computer,
so that no one but the editor can make any changes." Good to know that
others don't have control issues (=

Thx a mint for clarifying.

I've been doing our region newsletter for about 4 yrs now. This September I
should be doing another issue but I will be up to my ears and then some in a
student handbook for the same organization (national seminar). My region
director said she's going to find someone to do that issue in my place. She
doesn't understand why I can't just turn over my files so that someone else
can do it and won't have to start from scratch. (I don't know too many
others in my organization who own Publisher and fewer who actually use it!)
She asked me what I did when I took over. I told her I started from scratch.
All I had were paper copies. I may have had a few floppies of files from
Print Master or something like that. <shudder!> Doesn't help if you don't
have Print Master.

Any chance you have some thorazine you'll give me? I won't need it until
September.

JoAnne, I completely empathize! I just took over the newsletter with the
first edition out last month. When I took over my org had missed their fall
edition and I didn't even bother to ask for files - just started from
scratch. I literally had two weeks to pull it all together since people were
so late in getting their articles to me.

Our next newsletter will come out in April so I'm thinking I have some time
(ha-ha) to play with Publisher.

As for the thorazine, a possible side effect is involuntary muscle spasms
and twitches in the face and body...if you take it, I'll not be sure if that
will be caused by the drug or your newsletter work...LOL!!

take care,
karen
