% of work completed not calculated on summary task..

I am using Prjct '03. In the "Incorporate Progress" Menu, microsoft states,
"Project calculates the percentage of work completed for each summary task
based on the progress of its subtasks." However I can not get that to
happen. I have included a copy of a section of my code as it appears in my
project.

Sub-Phase Investigations 0%
Cost Feesibility Assessment 100%
Multimedia (Audio/Video) Feesibility Assessment 100%
Capacity Requirements Assessment 100%

Am I missing a Service Pack? Or skipped a step? Please advise.
I Thank you in advance

Hello Tairu,

Does the summary task complete calculate when you press F9? If so, your
calculation is set to manual. You need to set it to Automatic through
Tools > Options, Calculation tab.

Project 2003 is up to Service Pack 3 and you should ensure you are using
that service pack.

I assume that your tasks "Cost Feesibility Assessment, Multimedia
(Audio/Video) Feesibility Assessment and Capacity Requirements
Assessment" are indented underneath SubPhase Investigations? If you
click the plus mark to the left of "SubPhase Investigations" do those 3
tasks collapse up underneath?

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

I checked and Sub-Phase Investigations is a summary task for the other..it
does roll up. I am set to auto calculate and I did download service pack 3
and I am still encountering the same problem. I still have a clean (copy
that I have not begun tracking on yet) original copy I saved a baseline of it
under the subscript "_b" and retried the whole tracking phase and I still had
the same problem. I appreciate your help..is there anything else that could
be the problem?

Thanks for the update. Just to be sure -- you are using the field %
Work Complete -- not Physical % complete? Where are you entering the %
Work Complete? (What table).

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.

Thank you Julie, I finally got it to work. I have another question in
Project 'o3 I know I have the ability to compare a baseline to the actual,
but if i save numerous baselines how do I view and compare the subsequent
baselines to one another and to the actual?

Hello Tairu,

You're welcome and I'm glad you were able to get things to work as you
needed. If you have saved multiple baselines, you can use custom fields
and formulas to calculate the differences between baseline information.

In a text field (Text1 for example) the following formula will calculate
the difference in days between Baseline1 Start and Start.

DateDiff("d",[Baseline1 Start],[Start]) & " days different"

You can modify the formula to calculate differences between other date
fields as you need.

I hope this helps. Let us know how you get along.
