I don't suppose anyone can explain why I can read the messages in this
newsgroup only via
msnews.microsoft.com
when I used to be able to get them via
blueyonder.news
?

My preferred way of accessing these MS newsgroups is directly through their
servers.

It has lots of benefits (usually quicker to see posts).

Chip Pearson has some notes written by Leonard Meads at:

(I guess my question is why would anybody use something else if they can connect
to MS's newsservers--lots of reasons if you can't connect, though.)

I think that posts age off the MS Servers after 30 days (but I'm not too
positive about that).

But with all the activity in these here newsgroups, I go to google after just a
few days.

Thanks Dave (and Jon). I think I will put it to Blueyonder, as they are
fouling a lot of stuff up at present.

As to why I might prefer to use the Blueyonder route (if it works),
historically I have found that the messages scrolled off the Blueyonder
server slower than they did off msnews. Could be something in my
configuration and nothing to do with the servers, but that is all a bit of a
black art as far as I am concerned.
