Offic 2000 Premium requires disk to run

I need to laod the Office 2000 CD everytime I open an application like Word
or Excel. It then give me the message "An error occured and this feature is
no longer functioning. Please run setup and select 'repair' to restore this
application." When I do that it gives me another message that says: "The
patch package could not be opened. Verify that the patch package exists and
that you can access it.."

This problem started after I transfer the contents of my old hard-drive to a
new one.

A guess is that you have patched Office 2000 to SP1,2 or 3 and when you
transferred, you didn't copy the last patch. SO you will need to install
Office 2000 and then reinstall the latest servicepatch (and I cannot
remember if you need to install SP1 and SP2 before installing SP3).

Thanks for your kind response.

I have attempted to repair and uninstall Office 2000. That's when I get the
2nd message mentioned. This occured after I intalled a new hard drive
(Maxtor) and used the softward provided to copy the old drive to the new one.

I do have the patched you mentioned installed. My guess after the little
research I've done is that the patch files got messed up somehow. I'm goint
to try downloading MS Installer 2.0 and see if that helps solve the problem.

Thanks again for the response, and if you have other ideas, please let me
know.

You will also find on the Office Support site the eraser2k.exe file for
download. If you then uninstall Office and run eraser.exe, it will go
through your system and remove all the vestiges of the installation that
uninstall doesn't touch such as resetting the registry entries. If the
installer doesn't repair the problem, then eraser2k probably will.
