Office 03, 07 and VISTA

I have a brand new laptop with Vista Ultimate. My business computer has XP
Pro and Office 2003. Looking through the previous threads I would be
confident trying to install 2003 on the laptop, however I have just noted
that my install CD is licenced for 1 computer. Can this be upgraded? I use
the laptop when working away and create Word and Excell documents.
Alternatively if I install Office 2007 on my laptop will the main business
computer with Office 2003 have any probs reading them? Or would I have to
convert them to a 2003 format before trying to open them?
Thanks in advance.

If your License is for one PC, then that means one PC
Office 2007 can save docs in Office 2003, and earlier format
ALternatively you can download a free MS addin to Office 2003 with which you
can read Office 2007 format files

Re check the licence, retail licences often allow the use of Office on one
PC and one laptop, if your copy of Office is OEM then this may not apply.

You can set 2007 to save in the old format as default. There is a round
button in the top left hand coner of the Word screen, click on it and then
select "Word Options" at the bottom of the window, select
"Save", in the drop down pane labled "Savefiles in this format" select
"Word97-2003 Document (*.doc)", this will change the default format to .doc.
You can also do the same thing for Excell and powerpoint etc.

You can also get converters for 2003 :-
