The icons and companion text in the ribbons are huge ... is there anyway to
make them smaller?

Hi Steve,

The ribbon only has two 'sizes' for each screen resolution (compressed and full) [toggle with Ctrl+F1). For more information on the
ribbon, from using it to customizing it you can visit the MS Office 2007 User Interface team blog at http://blogs.msdn.com/jensenh
and the training videos and help files at the Office preview site
http://microsoft.com/office/preview and the Office Online 2007 preview site at http://officebeta.iponet.net

You'll find a 'was is' listing of Word commands in the 'What's new' help file in Word (F1).

Hi Steve,

You can also toggle the ribbon by double-clicking any of the tabs.

I don't think SteveB wants to collapse it. He wants to scale it. I'm having
the same issue. I have two machines with Vista / Office. This one has a
HUGE ribbon complete with oversize blurry icons. I'm running 1440x900 pixels
(native) on a HP TouchSmart, and Office looks gawdawful. The rest of the
user interface, desktop looks pretty normal by comparison.

Matt

You can't scale the Ribbon. It has always the same size.
The icons shouldn't be blurry though...

Could you find a solution to the problem. I have a ThinkPad R61 (8918-B9G)
with 1680x1050 resolution and I have the same problem when I install office
2007 on Windows XP. With Vista, it is OK, but Vista is not OK. I could not
get any help from the Microsoft. I don't think they understood what the
problem is - that is if they have any intention to understand it at all!
