office 200 sr-1 install produces 1706 error message?

I recently reinstalled all software on my pc and did necessary updates.
Everthing is cool as the primary user. Logged on as another user every time I
open word it starts to install. This fails as it claims to not be able to
find a valid source. Error 1706. This happens 3 times and then word opens and
runs fine. How can I stop this. It's really doing my head in!!

Hi, Geoff. There is no such thing as Office 200, so I'm guessing you're
referring to Office 2000. See http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=265194

you are right it is 2000. counting never was my thing!! tried the three
methods on recommended page. no go. still trying to install for second user.
also in the registry I found incorrect language settings in office folder.
changed those. still no good. any more ideas??
