Office 2000/2002 and Outlook 2k3

I have recently upgraded all outlook clients to Outlook 2k3. Some of the
workstations had older office versions. Now they do not have the choice to
use work as editor or send mail from word. I also have messages in word
stating the the office assistant needs re-installing to function. After
re-install, same massage. Is there some patch or compatability issue here?

Can't say, I've never used Word for the editor as the Outlook one suited
purpose better.

The only mixed modes that worked were Office 97 and Outlook 98. All other
versions require the same version of Office and Outlook for Office
Automation to work, including mail merges.

After furious head scratching, Millette asked:

| Older versions played nice togeter, is this a new "improvement"?
