Office 2000 and Office XP

Is it possible to have a mix and use Office 2000 and XP
back and forth? I have many machines that use either
Office 2000 or XP and like to use one file between the
two versions.

yes, the file formats are compatible, except for Access, where you must save
the file in the Access 2000 file format to enable compatibilty...

The reason why I ask is because if I want to open a file
saved in OfficeXP with Office2000, it will say it cannot
open the file. I also have a Excel pie chart that was
created in Office XP, but it could not be viewed in
Office 2000.
