Office 2000 and Windows 7

I just purchased a new laptop and wanted to install Office 2000 on it. It
looks like most of Office 2000 installs, but I cannot get Word 2000 to work.
I get an error message that Word is not responding.

Did it have a Trial version of Office pre installed that you failed to
uninstall first?
