Office 2000 document problems

If I open an Office application--for example: Word and the chose a file to
open, it will open right away. However if I chose the file to open
first...it can take 2 minutes to open.
I have upgraded, done the updates, etc. but no change. Anyone have any ideas?

Hi, we had the exact same problem with all office documents, opening them by
double clicking on them from explorer created a time lag of up to a minute
before the document would open. Opening from within the native application
was instant.

Bizarre and not resolved on my network, I have been migrating to office 2003
and this has resolved the issue on the machines affected.
