Office 2000, Document1, default Template altered?

Hello. When I start up Word (Office 2000), it would appear that someone has
managed to alter the "default" document1. I have no idea how or when. Every
new document I open has text on it, 18 point, brando font. I'm forced to
erase and reset the font type and size each and every time. I really need to
figure out how to "reset" this document back to the default blank, if only
due to the annoyance/frustration factor. Does anyone know how to reset or
repair this altered default document template (or if it's not a template,
whatever it is)?
