Hello NG,

we have a problem with a machine (win2k SP4) that has office 2000 (SP3)
installed.

All users that are new in our domain and do their first login on that
machine (and get so a new profile) cannot start Office 2000 (Word or Excel).
Windows Installer starts to run and interrups with the Message: Error 1706,
No valid source for Office 2000 has been found.

I reinstalled Office 2000 on that machine from CD, but it still occurs, also
when the CD is inserted.
"Old" users can run office 2000 without problems.

I found an knowledge base article which advised me to set to policies, I did
but it had no effect.

What else can cause this error?

Regards,
Mark

Hi,

Have got same problem. Wondered if you managed to solve it?

I had two identities on my p.c. which I set up initially a year ago
before installing Office 2000. Last week I tried to add an extr
identity and ran into same problem you had.

Also it said it couldn't update registry use regedit! But to do what!!
