office 2000 installation

I have removed office 97 and office 2000 from my system.
Attempted to re-install office 2000 and get message
telling me another version of this product is already
installed. Why and what to do???

Download and use eraser97.exe from the Microsoft Downloads site. This will
completely remove the registry entries for Office 97 so you can install
Office 2000.

the (insert latest virus name here) virus, all mail sent to my personal
account will be deleted without reading.

office 97 was cleaned off. still having same problem with
msoffice 2000. Installed windows installer clean up but
there is no ms office 2000 in the dialog box. Any other
ideas. most frustrating
