I am having a problem trying to install MS Office 2000 Premium on a Win98
machine. Installation starts fine....then I get an error (I think the error
code is 1107, but I neglected to write it down and that could be the wrong
number). The installation also mentions something about an error installing
fonts......like maybe the program didn't have sufficient security authorization
to do so.
On my first attempt, I did not cancel the install at the error message. Upon
reboot, the machine would not completely reboot and gave the message
"COMCTL32.DLL Cannot Start". Also, I was prompted to enter a password at the
Windows log-on prompt (I do not have log-on prompts turned on on the machine
involved).
I think the install corrupted that .DLL file. I had to format the c:\ drive and
reinstall Windows to fix the boot problem caused by that.
Anybody have any idea what is going on here and how to fix it? Thanks.
