Office 2000 Pro error

I have now got installation discs and a code for Office
2000 pro to replace my damaged version of Office 2000
premium. However, when trying to install I get the message:

Error 1402. Could not open key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\software\microsoft\office\9.0\powerpoint

I'm running windows 98. Any ideas how to get around this?
