I was told that it would not work in vista because would not see it a a good
files for vista why is that and was told that it would work but some progam
would not work

It will work in Vista but there may be issues, most notably with Outlook in
that it probably wont remember the mail account password.
And since office2k is out of support they wont be fixed.
