Office 2000 Professional Install

A fatal error... A terminal error... Can't get much more generic than
that I suppose. My guess is that the Office 2000 Professional installer
program is getting confused because you already have Office 2000 Premium
installed on the laptop, and you can't have two copies of Office 2000 on
the same computer. You could back up your Outlook .pst file(s), Word
templates/autocorrect files/custom dictionary files, etc., uninstall
Office 2000 Premium, and then try to install Office 2000 Professional.
Or you could do a custom installation of Office 2000 Professional in
which you only select the components of Office 2000 Pro that are not
already installed on the laptop as part of Office 2000 Premium.

And just as I hit the Send button, something else occurred to me...
Office 2000 Premium includes everything that Office 2000 Professional
does, plus FrontPage 2000 and PhotoDraw 2000. So what are you trying to
accomplish by installing Office 2000 Professional over Office 2000
Premium, when there is already more stuff in Premium?

I'm probably a little anal and just wanted both machines to have the same
version.
I don't have Publisher on my laptop and it is NOT on the Premium versionn I
have.

About 6 months ago, my laptops hard drive died. I relpaced the drive and
reloaded the OS. I tried to install Office Professional at that point and got
the same results. Would not install. I wish I haad more info for you but I
don't.

Please advise.
