Glad we could help!

Suzanne,
Your simple pointing this site out to me has FINALLY resolved a Word and
Outlook crashing error that has been plagueing me for months. I even went
to the extreme of reloading the entire OS, only to have this error crop up
again. The thing that sent me the wrong direction is that both times I had
gotten a trojan horse virus before it started to happen. I was hours away
from reloading the OS again when I decided to do some searching around in
MicroSoft.
The document you pointed me got me to load a local printer driver and it worked.
I run WIndows 2000 Version 5 SP4 bld 2195.
I use a SONY VAIO. At home I have it connected to a Dell that has an HP
Office Jet G85 attached. The Dell is set up to share the printer and of
course has the printer driver installed there. I set up the Vaio to print
to the Office Jet via a"local"port definition. I found I had to also
install the HP Driver on this machine to get the full function out of the
printer. I never set up standard local printer.
I take this computer to an office where I connect to the internet via a
shared DSL line. In this situation I have no printer to print to.
So installing the local printer has fixed the problems. I had Word and
Outlook both crashing on opening with the error "Word (Outlook) .exe has
generated errors. An error report is being created."
