Office 2000 re-install problems

I had a virus and hard-drive crash. Had system repaired
and upgraded to Windows XP. I re-installed my original MS
Works 6.0 CD (which installed OK)and then tried to re-
install my Office 2000 Upgrade CD. The upgrade fails, with
error message: "Setup failed to locate a valid qualifying
product on your machine." Can this be a conflict with XP?
I have installed this upgrade in the past without a
problem. Can anyone shed some light?

210437 - OFF2000: Products That Qualify for the Microsoft Office Upgrade:

"This includes Microsoft Works 6.0 and Microsoft Works Suite 2001. If the
upgrade version of Office 2000 does not recognize one of these products,
please contact Microsoft Technical Support."
